Javier Luque

Bio:

FJL is full professor at the Department of Nutrition, Food Sciences and Gastronomy of the University of Barcelona, where he has recently moved his research group. He is leading the research group in Computational Biology and Drug Design at the Faculty of Pharmacy. The group also pertains to the Institute of Biomedicine and the Institute of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry. His research is mainly devoted to the study of structure, dynamics and function of biomolecules, and the analysis of biomolecular interactions, with particular emphasis paid to the design of bioactive compounds (drug design).

Santiago Di Lella

Bio:
Santiago graduated in Chemistry at the Universidad Nacional de Tucumán, the public major educational center in northwester Argentina, in 2005. He obtained his PhD in Chemistry at the same University in
2009, with studies based on the characterization of the structure and dynamics of water molecules surrounding the recognition area between proteins and carbohydrates, on a complementary experimental (Raman spectroscopy) and theoretical (molecular dynamics simulations) approach. He then specialized in structure and dynamics of carbohydrate-binding proteins. During his postdoc as a Humboldt Fellow at the Universität Humboldt zu Berlin, Germany, he worked on viral proteins. He was a visiting professor at the Department of Drug Science and Technology at the Univesità degli Studi di Torino hosted by Prof. Francesca Spyrakis. He is now a member of the Argentinean National Research Council (Conicet) working at the Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina, focusing his research on the recognition and interaction between biomolecules as studied by molecular dynamics techniques.
